Former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo on Friday visited former Interior Minister and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola at his Ilesa country home, just ahead of the Owa Obokun coronation ceremony.
The visit comes hours before the official installation of Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup as the 49th Owa Obokun and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, scheduled to take place in Ilesa today.
Breakfast with Political Heavyweights
Atiku confirmed the visit via a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, sharing a video clip showing the leaders enjoying a morning meal together.
“Breakfast time at the residence of former Governor of Osun State, Engr Rauf Aregbesola,” he wrote.
Though the purpose of the visit has not been officially stated, it drew attention due to the prominent political figures present.
Who Was at the Table?
Alongside Aregbesola, the entourage included:
Lowo Adebiyi, former Osun APC Chairman
Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, Chairman, Omoluabi Progressives
Moshood Adeoti, ex-SSG
Najeem Salaam, former Osun House of Assembly Speaker
The visit also follows a court ruling on Thursday, where an Osun State High Court in Ilesa refused to stop the coronation, clearing the way for the event.
