Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is not just a music icon—he’s also a media enthusiast at heart.

In a trending interview with Atlanta’s 96.1 The Beat, Davido disclosed that if music hadn’t worked out, journalism would have been his calling. The singer, who studied marketing and business management, said his passion for communication and media engagement has always set him apart.

“I like promo, I like conversations,” Davido said.
“If I had a podcast, I’d talk for like three to four days.”

The With You crooner added that many top artists shy away from press runs, but he embraces them because of his love for talking and sharing ideas.

“A lot of big artists don’t do press, but I do because I can talk. When people meet me, I like to have conversations, I like to know things, I like information.”

Davido also touched on his work ethic, drawing parallels with icons like Beyoncé, to explain why he’s maintained such a strong presence both online and in the industry.

“People ask me why I have the most followers… it’s because I’m working.”

Even outside music, Davido said he’s constantly learning and researching—another reason why journalism would have been a natural fit.
