Osun APC Alleges Failed Defection Attempt by Governor Adeleke — PDP Fires Back
Osun APC alleges Governor Ademola Adeleke secretly attempted to defect to APC but was denied due to conditions. PDP and Adeleke deny claim, calling it false and politically motivated

The political atmosphere in Osun State heated up as the All Progressives Congress (APC) accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of attempting to defect to the party — a move it claimed was thwarted due to conditions imposed by the APC national leadership.
According to a statement by APC’s Media Director, Kola Olabisi, Adeleke allegedly sought support from prominent figures, including South-West governors and industrialists, to switch sides ahead of the 2026 elections. The party likened his secret defection attempts to those of a "promiscuous housewife" and claimed he was denied an automatic governorship ticket.
In response, Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, vehemently denied the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. He stated that Governor Adeleke has no reason to defect, as he remains committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under which he has delivered visible development and earned widespread support, including a recent Workers’ Day endorsement for a second term.
The PDP dismissed the APC’s claims as a "diversionary tactic" to cover internal strife and a crumbling party structure.
