Activist VeryDarkMan Regains Freedom After Six Days in EFCC Custody
Popular social commentator and activist Martin Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after spending six days in detention.

Social media personality and vocal critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) has regained his freedom following nearly a week in EFCC custody.
VDM was reportedly arrested last Friday by the EFCC on allegations of money laundering, a charge he firmly denies.
“How Can I Launder Money I Don’t Have?” – VDM Questions EFCC
In a video shared online shortly after his release, the activist was seen in a car with his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, discussing the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
“How can the EFCC accuse someone who isn’t wealthy of money laundering?” he asked.
“I’ve done a lot of charity work, and they’re wondering where I get the money from, not knowing I’m running it on debt.”
VDM emphasized his commitment to his activism, adding:
“You know what I stand for. I can never be locked up as long as my lawyer is by my side.”
Supporters Celebrate His Release
The announcement of his release was met with excitement from fans and fellow activists.
Former presidential candidate and activist Omoyele Sowore took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to share the news, writing:
“Thanks to the unrelenting efforts of all, Verydarkman has been released from unjust detention at the EFCC! He is with his ebullient lawyer, Adeyanju Deji.”
