Dressed by British-Ghanaian designer Ozwald Boateng, the Grammy-winning Nigerian star delivered one of the evening’s most intentional and culturally rich looks.

The theme for this year’s event, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” with a spotlight on “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrated the evolution of Black elegance as both resistance and artistic legacy. Burna Boy embraced this narrative in full force.

His custom ensemble—a royal red wool tuxedo paired with a flowing oxblood eel skin cape—was not just Met Gala-worthy, it was history in motion. Boateng described the look as designed “not just for the carpet, but for history.” The silhouette evoked African kingship, defiance, and excellence.
