President Bola Tinubu Honoured with Lifetime African Achievement Award in Ghana
President Bola Tinubu has received the Lifetime African Achievement Prize from Ghana’s Millennium Excellence Foundation, recognising his leadership and contributions to African unity and progress. Speaking through Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Tinubu called on African youth to pursue innovation and service in shaping the continent's future.

President Bola Tinubu has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime African Achievement Prize by the Millennium Excellence Foundation, marking a significant recognition of his impact on governance, leadership, and pan-African cooperation. The honour was conferred during the foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration held in Kumasi, Ghana.
Represented by Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, President Tinubu was a Special Guest of Honour at the event. He expressed gratitude to the foundation and lauded the legacy of its patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, for championing excellence across the continent.
“Africa’s Shining Lights” – Tinubu Commends African Achievers
In his acceptance remarks, Tinubu praised the foundation for promoting the values of honour, integrity, service, and excellence, while celebrating icons who have uplifted the continent.
“It is no small achievement to have honoured such illustrious figures as the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Prof. Wole Soyinka, President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Dr. Mo Ibrahim,” he noted.
Tinubu used the moment to challenge African youth to rise with courage and vision, urging them to contribute meaningfully in fields such as science, technology, education, governance, entrepreneurship, and the arts.
A Call for Unity and Shared Destiny
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of inter-African collaboration and called on all Africans to work collectively in shaping the continent’s future.
“We must work together to foster unity, peace, and prosperity. Let us invest in our youth and uphold leadership through service,” he said.
He hailed the Millennium Excellence Awards, first launched in 1988, as a “beacon of inspiration and recognition” that aligns with the developmental aspirations of Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
