NDLEA Nabs Woman Smuggling Cocaine in Private Parts, Handbag and Stomach at Port Harcourt Airport

NDLEA officers arrested a Nigerian woman, Ihensekhien Obehi, at Port Harcourt Airport for attempting to smuggle over 2.5kg of cocaine using her private parts, handbag, and stomach. Other operations across Nigeria also led to major drug seizures, including cannabis, codeine syrup, and arrests of international and local traffickers.

In a dramatic and disturbing drug bust, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Ihensekhien Obehi on Sunday, May 3, 2025, at Port Harcourt International Airport while attempting to smuggle 2.523 kilograms of cocaine to Iran using multiple concealment methods — including her private part, handbag, and stomach.

Obehi, dressed in a hijab and preparing to board a Qatar Airways flight to Iran via Doha, shocked officers with her methods: three wraps of cocaine were inserted into her private part, two large parcels hidden in a false handbag bottom, and 67 pellets swallowed, requiring days of excretion observation.

“She claimed she was meant to ingest 70 pellets but stopped at 67 due to discomfort and inserted the remaining three,” NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi stated.

International Arrests and Major Seizures Continue Nationwide

In a related incident, NDLEA officials at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, arrested a 22-year-old British national, Campbell Slifer, on May 9th. He was caught with two suitcases containing 35 parcels of Loud (a potent cannabis strain), weighing 37.6kg.

Slifer, with a criminal history in the UK for drug trafficking and robbery, confessed to being recruited in London to collect the drugs from Thailand and deliver them to Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in Niger State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a fuel tanker and three vehicles transporting 3,047kg of skunk on the Suleja-Kaduna Road. The suspects arrested were:

  • Christopher Onyema (47)

  • Benedict Etineruba Young (54)

  • Chukwudi Ujue Jerry (30)

  • Mohammed Abdullahi Danasabe

More Seizures Across Nigeria

  • Lagos: 1.1kg of Loud concealed in a pillow from Thailand intercepted at a courier hub.

  • Bauchi: Toyota Tundra with 526 blocks of skunk (505kg) seized along Bauchi–Gombe Road; suspects Isaac Onogure (37) and Ikechukwu Peter (44) arrested.

  • Kano: In a major raid, 31 kegs containing 775 litres of codeine syrup were recovered from Hafizu Isa Uman (34) and Ismail Shehu (48) at Rijiyar Zaki.

The NDLEA’s continued clampdown underscores the agency’s commitment to fighting drug trafficking through both border control and internal surveillance.
