A 25-year-old housewife has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command over the fatal stabbing of her co-wife during a domestic altercation in Daura town.

Tragedy struck in Daura town, Katsina State, as a domestic dispute between co-wives turned deadly. The Katsina State Police Command on Sunday confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old housewife, Rabi’a Labaran, following the fatal stabbing of her co-wife, Zainab Lawal, aged 30.
The incident occurred behind Dadi Primary School, Sabon Gari area, Daura Local Government Area, around 11 pm on May 24, 2025.
Fatal Confrontation
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the incident was reported by the husband, Nasir Yusuf, who discovered the gruesome scene upon returning from the market.
“He found his first wife lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds,” the statement said.
The victim was rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Daura, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Confession and Ongoing Investigation
Police arrested Rabi’a Labaran, the co-wife, who reportedly confessed to the killing during interrogation. She admitted that a misunderstanding led to a scuffle that ended fatally.
The statement added that investigations are still ongoing.
Police Condemn Domestic Violence
Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police CP Bello Shehu condemned the act and urged the public to seek legal redress in conflicts rather than resort to violence.
“Vigilantism and violence only perpetuate harm and undermine the rule of law,” he stated.
