PFN to Tinubu: Nigeria Needs More Than Promises — We Need Action, Now

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to move beyond promises and demonstrate real commitment to tackling Nigeria’s worsening socioeconomic and security challenges. Rising from a four-day national retreat in Uyo, the PFN emphasized the need for both divine intervention and strategic governance, insisting that prayer must be accompanied by visible action from leaders.

PFN to Tinubu: Nigeria Needs More Than Promises — We Need Action, Now

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has urged the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to prioritize implementation of its policies over rhetoric, as Nigeria continues to battle rising insecurity, inflation, and a crippling cost of living.

Addressing journalists at the close of the PFN’s national retreat in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the National Secretary, Bishop David Bakare, expressed concern over the country’s trajectory and called for urgent, strategic action.

“Our perspective at PFN is that Nigeria needs divine intervention. But prayer must be accompanied by decisive action from leadership,” he said.

He noted that while the government has proposed solutions — such as forest guards and tech-based border security — there must be visible proof of execution to restore public trust.

“These are promising policies, but the government must prove to Nigerians that it is serious about implementation. It should not just be about what the government says, it must be about what the government is doing.”

Bakare further stressed that unemployment fuels insecurity, urging the government to invest in job-creating sectors.

“When people are engaged meaningfully, there will be fewer idle hands to recruit into criminal activities. Let the evidence of commitment be visible; we will back it up with prayers.”

The PFN retreat brought together over 90% of its national executives and marked the first under Bishop Wale Oke’s second term as President. The event featured daily devotions, revival sessions, and strategic visioning, aimed at strengthening internal unity and charting a spiritual course for national leadership.

Governor Umo Eno, who joined the retreat on Wednesday, praised the PFN’s non-confrontational yet truthful stance and solicited continued prayer for his administration.

PFN patriarch, Rev. Uma Ukpai, a founding figure in the fellowship, also made a notable appearance to offer blessings and counsel.
