The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 49 suspected internet fraudsters in a major crackdown conducted between Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
The operation was carried out by operatives from the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, based on actionable intelligence linking the suspects to various cybercrime activities across the city.
According to the commission, the raids targeted multiple hideouts used by the suspects. During the operation, officers recovered a loaded, unlicensed pistol from one of the individuals arrested, who confessed during preliminary interrogation that he was a former cult member.

Laptop computers
Two luxury vehicles
Prosecution to Follow
The anti-graft agency has confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the process.
“These arrests are part of our ongoing commitment to rid Nigeria of cybercriminal elements,” an EFCC official stated.
