Anambra Police Arrest Three Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Vehicles and Weapons
Police operatives in Anambra have arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery gang following a confession from a detained suspect. Stolen vehicles, phones, and a pump-action gun were recovered during the operation.

The Anambra State Police Command has scored a major breakthrough in its fight against criminality with the arrest of three suspected members of an armed robbery gang known for dispossessing residents of vehicles and valuables at gunpoint.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement issued Monday by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the state command. According to the release, the operation was carried out by officers attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, based on a confession made by a suspect already in custody.
How the Arrest Happened
The suspects—Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu—all aged between 27 and 32, were arrested in Agukwu-Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area, in the early hours of Saturday, May 30, 2025.

Ongoing Investigation
SP Ikenga stated that investigations have been expanded to apprehend other members of the gang currently at large. He emphasized that this operation highlights the command’s proactive approach in disrupting criminal networks across the state.
“The operatives have expanded investigations and emplaced every necessary measure to arrest other gang members still at large,” Ikenga noted.
