Omoyele Sowore Speaks Out Against B-Lord’s Detention: “Justice Must Not Be Weaponized
AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore condemns the court-ordered detention of B-Lord, urging fairness, justice, and immediate release.
Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has publicly expressed concern over the court-ordered detention of an individual known as B-Lord, emphasizing that no one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the guise of legal authority.
In a strong and principled statement, Sowore made it clear that justice must not be manipulated or reduced to a tool of oppression. According to him, the celebration of any individual’s imprisonment—especially under questionable circumstances—undermines the very essence of fairness and human rights.
Sowore revealed that he has already reached out to his trusted legal counsel, Marshal D F Abubakar, urging him to immediately disengage from the legal process surrounding the case. This move, he explained, reflects his commitment to ensuring that justice is not misused as a weapon against citizens.
He further stressed that sending B-Lord to prison should not be seen as a triumph of legal expertise or advocacy. Instead, it risks strengthening a system that could exploit legal frameworks to suppress individuals unfairly.
“Justice must never be reduced to punishment for its own sake,” Sowore emphasized, reinforcing his belief that the legal system should prioritize fairness, equity, and the protection of fundamental human rights.
Concluding his statement, Sowore assured the public of his intention to work toward discontinuing the case and securing B-Lord’s release without further delay.
This development has sparked conversations across Nigeria about the role of the judiciary, the importance of due process, and the need to safeguard citizens from potential abuse of legal power.
