After God, My Loyalty Is to Tinubu — David Umahi Declares
Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has said his loyalty lies with God and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that he takes instructions only from the two.
Umahi: “You Will Be of the Devil to Betray Tinubu”
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, the former Ebonyi State governor made the bold declaration in response to a commendation from President Tinubu regarding the minister’s performance on national infrastructure projects.
“I have told the president even publicly that my loyalty is to God first and then, him,” Umahi said.
“When a man gives you the type of trust Tinubu has given me, you will be of the devil to betray him.”
He described Tinubu’s praise as worth “more than one trillion dollars”, saying it confirmed he was on the right track and that God answers prayers.
N1.6 Trillion Project Handled Without Interference
Umahi also expressed gratitude for the trust Tinubu has placed in him, highlighting a major project procurement worth ₦1.6 trillion.
“Have you seen where a man presided over the procurement of a project worth N1.6 trillion, and his boss did not call him to ask how he went about it?” he asked.
He added:
“I pray every day that if I place myself, family, and friends over God, Tinubu, and Nigerians, let Him not answer me.”
30 Mega Projects Targeted for Completion by December
According to Umahi, the president’s commendation has spurred contractors into action, with at least 30 mega projects expected to be completed and inaugurated by December 20, 2025.
These projects span all six geopolitical zones of the country, and the minister vowed to remain actively involved in their construction and inspection.
Prayers and Dedication
Umahi ended his remarks with a note of gratitude to those who support him:
“I also dedicate the president’s commendation to all those who pray for me to succeed in serving the people.”
He vowed to keep praying for Tinubu and all Nigerians who believe in the president’s vision.
